Welcome readers,
For our work today, we had to make a google slides presentation about ourselves. I created a slide presentation about getting to know me better! Hope you know me just a little better by reading the slide below!
I am a student at New Windsor School. This is where I share my learning around Learn, Create, Share and the New Windsor Way.
Welcome readers,
For our work today, we had to make a google slides presentation about ourselves. I created a slide presentation about getting to know me better! Hope you know me just a little better by reading the slide below!
WARNING: This blog is going to be really short. Like, really short. Only one question.
Welcome readers,
Just a quick question - I am making a google slides presentation about getting to know me better. I will post it on my blog when I finish it, but I need questions first. Make sure to ask me anything about myself in the comments. I will put it in the google slide. Kia ora!
Kia ora readers,
Today we had our last CyberSmart lesson with Phil. For our task, we made a postcard to persuade people to come to this place. We could convince them to go anywhere, for instance, I make a postcard for someone and tell them to go to Italy. I would make a postcard for them that looks nice and has a nice view of Italy. That would persuade them to go to Italy, right?
Anyway, I made a postcard about how people should come to New Zealand. The embed of the photo and letter I wrote is below.
Welcome readers,
For our work on distance learning, we had to do a pretty fun task. It was called making a collage. A collage is when you stick together a bunch of objects and make it a new piece of artwork. Our teacher gave us the choice to do it either digitally, or physically. I chose digital. I decided to search up digital collages for some inspiration and I took lots of inspiration. I didn't copy though. I think it turned out pretty well.
The reason collages are so fun to make is because there are actually no rules to making a collage. unlike other pieces of art, they sometimes have these rules. Collages don't have any rules. In fact, breaking the rules is what makes them look more interesting to look at. You can let your imagination run wild, and it's pretty fun!
It's also a pretty old piece of art, but it's a new type of art. Do you get me? No? What I mean is, some of the earliest collages date back to 200 BC, but then became an official type of artwork in about the 1900s. I'll give you an example. The collage below is what I made.
Do you see what I mean now? It's like an abstract piece of art. I think it stands out and the colours pop and that's what makes it look nice. And guess what I used to make it? Canva! That's right, Canva isn't just useful for making posters, you can also make digital collages, brochures, flyers, infographics, and waay more than that! I would be here for days if I told you all of the capabilities of Canva! What do you think of the collage? You made it to the end! Thanks for taking the time to read my blog post, Have an excellent day and see you on the next blog!
P.S: Thank you all for 1,000 views! I never thought I would get to that milestone! And here I am at 1,000 views on my blog. Thank you reader, I couldn't have done it without you. Goodbye!
Welcome readers,
Today we had to make a false media. Meaning fake, not real. For me, I decided to bump it up a level by creating an actual fake website. That's right, I created a fake website. I added these 6 random articles that came from my head, but they are actually true. I just thought of them. Do you think it looks real? I think it looks very real! I made the fake URL and the search bar. I also put up this wanted poster because I thought that would look nice.
I really enjoyed making this "website" because I could be as creative as I want with no boundaries. It was really fun and I suggest you give it a go as well. You can be as creative as you want, make up your own articles with no boundaries! Here is an embedded photo of my "website" below:
Kia ora everyone,
Today we joined a zoom meeting at 11am with someone who is part of the ASB GetWise program. The ASB GetWise program is a financial literacy program to teach and inspire students to be confident and to be wise with your money. He said he wanted to play this game with us and I was the only one in the zoom meeting while everyone else is in school. I wasn't the only one who stayed home, there were other people but they just didn't join for some reason.
Anyway, he said he wanted to play a game with us. He said it was a game about being wise with your money or something. And it actually was. First, he told us to write cash as if we were writing an acrostic poem. Then, he told us to write "Clear" for the C in cash. What he meant by clear was to set a clear goal for what we wanna buy. We had to say what we were gonna buy (obviously) How much it was, and where you are going to buy it from. Is it going to be online? Or a shop? He gave us one minute to write down that information.
Then, he asked if anyone wanted to share anything with the class. A few people shared their info, but not many.
So, you kind of get it, right? After that, he asked us what the next one will be. None of us really figured it out, so he just told us. The second word was "Actions". What he meant were the actions we could do to get our income. Income is kind of like your earnings, the money you earn for doing jobs. He asked us what actions we could do to get income. He gave us 30 seconds to write down ways to earn money. I wrote down to do chores, help out with the house (basically chores, why did I write that), and to help other people for a price. There are other ways, like helping out your neighbourhood - doing neighbourhood jobs.
He then asked us what the next one would be, and we guessed save. We were partially right because it was save & spend. Same thing anyways.
He then told us to imagine he gave us an income of $20 and he asked what we would save and what we would spend. For instance, imagine someone got an allowance of $15 a week, and they spend $5 a week but save $10. But for us, we "have an income of $20." He gave us 30 seconds to write the info of how much we would spend a week and how much we would save. Some students said they wanted to save all of it and not spend anything, others (including me) said they would spend $5 a week and keep the other $15.
The final question was How long? What he meant by this was he was asking how long until you get enough money to reach your goal? For me, it would take me 4 weeks as I chose that I want to buy more clothing. Specifically, track pants. I don't know why but I just really like wearing them. And I don't have that many pairs. Other students wanted to buy an iPad, and someone else wanted to buy some books. One student said he wanted to save up for a Nintendo Switch.
Now, It's time to apply this to your real life! Have a talk with your parents or some trusted friends. Maybe try knocking on your neighbour's door to see if they need any help with anything. If you would try this out, what would you set your goal on? How much will it be? What are you going to get? What are you going to do for your income? Where are you going to get it from? What will you save & spend? How long do you think it would take you to reach your goal?
You made it so the end of my post! Thanks for reading it, I really appreciate it. Have a fantastic day and see you on the next blog!
P.S: Sorry for the inactivity on my blog for the past 6 days. I have been really busy with some other stuff.

Dear Journal,
You are now my journal where I just write down my normal thoughts. I will tell you how I am feeling today.
It’s a shame we are in lockdown now, journal. I have been growing more and more restless as the time passes... I wish covid could just end in a snap of the finger. There are also the people who don’t want to vaccinate. Don’t you feel the same, journal? Those anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers are doing nothing but making the situation more and more worse. And yet everyone is complaining about how they have to stay home. The answer is pretty obvious. We just need 90% of each suburb to vaccinate, then, we can finally move down an alert level! But that sounds like a dream right now. All we can do is dream about it. Just dream and dream…
I don’t even know why I am talking to you. You are non-existent and not listening right now. This is for my schoolwork, anyways. And this is to entertain my boredom and loneliness. So I'll just imagine you’re listening, journal. I don’t know why, but for some reason, I hear a tick.. Tock.. Tick.. Tock.. It almost sounds like a clock. It might be my brain being so bored that it starts to count. Or is it Big Ben in my head?
Sorry, journal. You are kind of like my buddy to talk about things I don't normally talk about with other people. I am just letting my thoughts flow to you and talk about it. That is what a journal is for, right? Don’t worry - Journals are kept private. They- What? What did you say? Oh! Yes, I know that. I was just about to say that to you! For some reason, the teachers are telling us to share our work onto our blog. But journals are supposed to be kept private! Yes! I know! I don’t know why they are telling me to share something private between you and I to the whole world! (my blog!) I think I am going to end the journal entry here, journal. See you tomorrow!
P.S: I'm really sorry if these thought don't make sense at all. They are just the first things that come to mind.
Day 78 of lockdown.
(I wrote this on google docs but I wanted to share it with you guys too!)
Welcome everyone,
I remember when I went to Coromandel. It’s one of my favourite places in New Zealand. There is so much stuff to do there, but the windy roads on the way there make it a pain to go there. But trust me, it’s worth it!
Fortunately, I don’t get carsick that easily, my dad doesn’t get carsick so long he's the driver. My mum and my sister are just fine. But, we were going there with our cousins and they got car sick really easily. Everyone fell asleep except for me and my dad. The car behind us (our cousins) was just vomiting and vomiting.
20 minutes later…
We finally made it out of the windy roads and just a straight road for the first time. 5 minutes later, we were straight back to windy roads.
3 hours later…
Day one - Exploring the new house
After suffering from windy roads and lots of vomits, we finally made it to Whitianga. We were trying to work out the new house, and there were a bunch of hiding places. It was really fun, but we didn’t play hide and seek. There were already board games set up over there, so we played Twister. I was surprised that I wasn’t the first one to get out, because I’m not flexible. At. All.
Anyway, we had a fun time playing twister, and then we were picking our rooms. Me and Hasan, (one of my cousins that came along) got a room that looked like it was in the corner of the house. It was really nice but I couldn’t risk getting the top bunk, Hasan wanted the top bunk anyway.
We didn’t really do anything on the first day but play board games and explore the new house. Hasan and I were playing the board game Battleship, and it was way more fun than I actually expected. We ended up playing a whole bunch of games of battleship for like 2 hours straight. We then went to eat some food. After we ate, we went straight back to battleship. And then after that, we just walked around for a bit.
At night, we just watched Netflix and played some games of Mario Kart with each other until we fell asleep.
Day two - Cathedral Cove
On day two, we went to Cathedral Cove. We drove to a place to this bus station thingy that brings you to the track. Everyone was figuring the prices, while Hasan and I were just circling around and talking to each other.
2 minutes later…
They finally figured out the prices. Now, all we had to do was wait.
10 minutes later…
They finally came. Now to go there. There wasn’t really anything on the trip to the track.
7 minutes later…
We were finally there. After 19 minutes we finally made it to the walking track. Now for the hard part. The actual walk. It was really hot that day, and when I saw the first sign it said: Viewpoint: 35m. Me, not reading the word viewpoint, thought: Oh, this won’t be long. But when I was walking, the view looked very nice, and Hasan and I were way ahead of everyone. After 35 minutes, (and an extra 10 minutes waiting for everyone else) we made it to the viewpoint. I was confused because I thought I would already be there but we were only at a viewpoint.
We then took a photo with everyone else, and there was this random man who just walked in and stood with us for the photo and he was in it as well. Everyone was cool with it though. I thought it was pretty nice as well.
Ok, so I was pretty confused and then I saw another sign saying “Cathedral Cove: 45m”. I was just stunned by seeing that sign. 45 minutes is a long walk. Like, really long. (for me at least) the view was beautiful though, being high up and being able to see my destination from high up. I started to slowly descend down until I got all the way to Cathedral Cove.
But I wasn’t there yet. I saw another sign that said “ Cathedral Cove: 25m”. I was just shocked. I have been walking for 45 minutes just for another sign to say I still have 25 minutes?! Even worse, it started to look like a maze. All these paths made me confused. Luckily, there was this sign that showed me and Hasan all the directions to the cove.
When we finally figured out how to navigate the sign, we were able to get to Cathedral Cove with ease. We finally made it to Cathedral Cove. It was this beautiful brace and it had this giant cove that looked like, well, a cathedral. It was so nice to be under a shade for once, and it felt nicer there. The sand felt softer than a blanket. Hasan and I didn’t pack any swimwear, and we were mad at ourselves for doing so.
Turns out, you were allowed to swim there, and the water looked so nice and cold after that hot walk. We waited about 5 minutes for everyone else to come, and this rock looked big enough for me to stand on. I stood on the rock and I never looked behind me. I just broke the big rule of the sea - never turn your back on the sea. There was this huge wave headed towards the cove and it splashed on the rock I was standing on and it hit my back.
I was super wet and just thought “Oh screw this, I might as well just jump into the water with my current clothes. I just jumped in and Hasan joined me too. It was pretty fun but super heavy because we were not wearing clothes suited for the sea. But it was still pretty fun though!
Big regret. It was the biggest regret of my life. When we were going to walk all the way back up, I never thought of that when I was in the water. When I walked out of the water, the sand was sticky. It was sticking everywhere on me. It was even worse when I walked up. It was super exhausting and there was no view. Eventually, even Hasan got ahead of me.
At one point, I think I even went on the wrong track and then walked all the way back and then went on the right track. After a hard hour of walking wet with sand sticking everywhere and feeling very uncomfortable, I finally made it back. I sat under a tree then got some ice cream after realizing there was a stand nearby.
We waited for the bus to come back, and then it came back to pick people up. When we were finally home, I got a shower and changed. We also noticed that there was a beach super close to us, so we went there and just sat there. It was pretty nice just watching the sunset at the beach and calming. After that, we then went back to the house and Hasan and I just played even more games of the board game Battleship. After that, we just watched Youtube while eating noodles, and then once that was done, we just went to sleep.
Day three - Hot water beach
On day three, we drove to Hot water beach. This time, Hasan and I actually packed our swimwear. It was low tide though, so nobody was digging holes for the hot water.
I brought my bodyboard this time and Hasan brought his. My sister also brought her one and Hasan’s older brother, Najmi, brought his one as well. We then went into the water wearing proper gear, (not normal clothes)
I went into the water, waiting for the waves to come. It didn’t work that much because I was never in the right position and they were coming a little too early. My bodyboard is also a bit broken because the slick of it is chipped and it’s also kind of sticking out.
There was a big wave coming now. I got into my position and, I don’t know what type of grudge the sea holds against me, what did I ever do? I was thrown back onto the sand with the waves and then it slowly slipped away while I'm still rolling there in the ground.
I decided not to go in the water again, and since I wasn't going to, one of my OTHER cousins, Asked me if he could use my bodyboard. Now he's 17, (I think,) and my bodyboard looked tiny on him. When he went into the water, the bodyboard broke. Yes, it broke. It was snapped in half.
Since my bodyboard was broken, I couldn't risk going into the water. I think I used my sister's one instead.
There was this stream sort of thingy on the side of the beach and I was just chilling in that instead. Hasan and Najmi were also there. We were just swimming around and skipping stones, but the experience was still fun.
After that, we went home and ate some food, got changed, and we didn't really do anything interesting when we went back home.
Day 4 - the trip home
The next day, we went back home, and we had to go through all those windy roads again and suffer all the vomits. We even had to make a stop on the side of the road because everyone was vomiting so much. And one of the families got sidetracked by seeing the warehouse.
30 minutes later...
They finally came back. Now we could continue. The view of the trees looked very nice and there was a lot of oxygen. Other than that we just drove home. Until...
We went to Hunua Falls on the way home. We didn't swim there, since the drowning risk is high (according to the sign) but I just went in again with my normal clothes. It was fine anyway.
There wasn't really anything apart from vomits, views and windy roads, but at one point there was a cliffside on the way home, so that was cool.
What a long recount! I've been working on this for 2 days! Consider this blog a special, since I don't normally write this long. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog! (if you even made it here) Goodbye!
Day... Whatever I don't even know anymore of lockdown. Blog 1 in November. 40th blog!
Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month! No gives! Haha!
(I originally wrote this on Google Docs but I wanted to share it with you guys!)
Speeches... Speeches... Ugh... It makes me shudder even saying the word. I hate speeches. Yes, I hate them. All they do is make me more and more nervous and every time I do one I can just hear my brain whispering: Rieza... You can’t do this... You’re not confident enough… Your speech isn’t good…
I absolutely hate them.
Even though teachers say they “boost your confidence”, I think the exact opposite. And I don’t think I’m the only one. Many other people support my opinion. I am a very shy person especially when it comes to public speaking. I haven’t actually presented in front of my school, because my speech is never good enough, and I’m glad they aren't. I’m just gonna keep making bad speeches so I don’t get into the finals.
There was this one time last year where I wasn’t presenting in front of the school, but I was presenting in front of 90 people. It took me about 20 seconds to build up the courage to pull my queue cards out and start reading. 90 people is just about enough to make me shake and embarrass myself. And of course, my brain was screaming at me that I can’t do it and I should just run away. Yes, I was thinking about doing that.
I am so glad that speeches look like they are going to be cancelled this year. I made a speech, but I don’t even think it’s three minutes long anyways.
It seems you have made it to the end of my blog post. Thank you for taking the time to read it! Have a good day!
